Being an indie author means that you control your destiny, but with that control also comes the massive pain in the arse that is the marketing of your books.
Thank you for posting. As someone lacking in the areas of marketing and "author branding," this is valuable advice. I intend to start my webpage this year, and I'll this info to good use.
I regretfully disagree with the universal efficacy of these points. I'm not saying that there isn't anything worthwhile about these points for they are the same points from 2010, but none of them are the panacea you're expecting for selling your book, and rarely are effective. I say this from bitter experience having tried all of them at one point or another.
Again, it doesn't hurt to try, but temper your expectations and be very careful on spending money you can't afford to lose for no return.
I clearly state you have to put the work in to get results. I've been an indie author for a decade now and have used all of these. I've sold over 30k books which for someone with little money to spare or time to market is pretty darn good. These methods do work. You just need to put the effort in and having a good book to actually market is key too.
